Finance Ministry may unveil new Budi95 system for e-hailing drivers soon
PARLIAMENT | The Finance Ministry may announce a new fuel subsidy mechanism for e-hailing drivers this week or in the coming weeks, its deputy minister Lim Hui Ying said.

“As I said before, we don’t want any group to be left out.
“For e-hailing, the government’s commitment was mentioned. We will increase the litre (limit).
“Maybe in a few weeks, or this week, the Finance Ministry will announce (the mechanism),” she said in response to a question from Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN-Kuala Krai).
Abdul asked whether e-hailing drivers would be treated equitably under the Budi95 fuel subsidy system, as they only receive an additional 300 litres in subsidised petrol, compared to the limit of 1,400 litres per month for taxi drivers.
This is despite the jobs being similar in nature, Latiff said.
On Oct 1, the Finance Ministry said it granted e-hailing drivers an increased eligibility for Budi95, starting Oct 15.
The next week, Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the eligibility for extra Budi95 quotas for e-hailing and p-hailing drivers will depend on their fuel usage.
The Budi95 fuel subsidy was rolled out in stages beginning Sept 27.
It allows all Malaysians with a valid driving licence to purchase RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre, capped at 300 litres per month.
Foreigners driving locally registered vehicles are to pay the market price for RON95, estimated to be around RM2.60 per litre, while foreign-registered vehicles will still be limited to RON97.
