PARLIAMENT | A parliamentary special select committee (PSSC) has recommended legal amendments to ensure equal accountability between both parties involved in “consensual” statutory rape cases.
Yeo Bee Yin (Harapan-Puchong), the chairperson for the PSSC on women, children, and community development, said the proposal was made based on the committee’s finding that 68.1 percent of statutory rape cases feature consenting parties.
