Rescue officials in Sarawak have recovered the last body from a landslide that hit a squatter colony, bringing the total death toll to four.

The landslide occurred early Wednesday after two hours of rain in Sarawak near the town of Kapit, which is located south of the state capital Kuching.

The latest victim was 33-year-old Jenny Lim, who was dug from the mud late Friday, the New Straits Times newspaper said.

Rescue officials had previously recovered the bodies of Lim's nephews Soon Hua Ting, 12, and Frederick Bradley Peter, 13, and the children's 53-year-old grandmother Dayang Dayak.

Officials said at least 10 houses were damaged and several people injured after being hit by falling tree branches.

Other residents in the settlement had been moved out of their homes amid fears of another landslide.

Meteorological officials expect more rain to pound Sarawak during the monsoon, a climatic phenomenon that occurs between November and February.

At least 29 people have died in the past two weeks because of monsoon floods in Malaysia and thousands of people have sought shelter in relief centres.
