The Indera Mahkota Bersatu division committee has expressed regret over the party’s decision to dismiss Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah, which it described as having been made without a fair hearing.

In this regard, the division deputy chief Mat Zahid Abu Hassan said he hopes the Bersatu appeals board will give due consideration to the appeal to be submitted by Saifuddin (above).

He also urged the process to be carried out fairly, transparently and prudently in the interest of safeguarding the party’s integrity.

Zahid added that the stance was unanimously agreed upon at a divisional committee meeting held yesterday.

“The committee expresses its solidarity with Saifuddin and reaffirms its continued support for his leadership,” he said in a statement.

Last Tuesday, Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid was reported to have said that the party had dismissed Saifuddin effective Jan 6.

He also said Saifuddin had violated clause 9.1.4 of the party’s constitution, although no details were provided on the specific offence allegedly committed by the former Indera Mahkota Bersatu division chief.
