As Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin purges his party of detractors, his sacked deputy, Hamzah Zainudin, appears unperturbed.

In a Facebook post, the Larut MP shared a photograph believed to be taken at the home of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang in Rusila, Terengganu, earlier today.

“Alhamdulillah. Having tea in Rusila. Allah SWT is the best planner,” said Hamzah, who recently returned from Sydney, Australia.

Hadi was seen sitting at the head of the table, with Hamzah next to him.

Also present were Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah, both of whom were previously sacked from Bersatu.

Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee, who had openly backed Hamzah but so far been spared disciplinary action, was also present.

As for other guests from PAS, Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar; Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman, and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan were also present at the table.

PN leadership issue

Previously, Hadi was at odds with Muhyiddin over a successor for the PN chairperson’s post.

On Tuesday, Takiyuddin said neither he nor PAS would interfere in Bersatu’s internal turmoil between opposing camps supporting Muhyiddin and Hamzah.

A post on Bersatu’s Facebook page

Earlier, Bersatu's disciplinary body confirmed sacking 17 members effective today, including Hamzah.

Turmoil within the party, however, continues in its official Facebook page, set up during Wan Saiful’s term as information chief.

The page administrator went on a full-scale attack, posting a series of messages criticising Muhyiddin and his allies.
