• DAP Youth has come to Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Wong Siew Ki’s defence after Selangor PAS Youth chief Sukri Omar called for her suspension after speaking up on the state’s pig farming controversy.

  Its secretary Lim Chun Weng said Wong had raised the issue with humility, predicated on respect for the Selangor sultan, in fulfilment of her responsibilities as an elected representative to bring the voice of the Selangor people to the assembly.

  

  Thus, Sukri’s accusation that Wong was being rude and disrespectful is unfounded, and his call for Wong’s suspension violates the spirit of democracy.

  “DAP Youth sternly condemns Perikatan Nasional and PAS for manipulating racial and religious sentiments to create social antagonism and undermine the harmonious foundation of a pluralistic society just to gain political attention,” he said.

Fuel prices

• Effective midnight, the price of unsubsidised RON95 petrol will be reduced by 15 sen to RM3.87 per litre, while RON97 petrol prices will be reduced by 25 sen to RM4.85 per litre.

  For diesel sold in Peninsular Malaysia, the price is reduced by 85 sen to RM5.12 per litre.

  The price of subsidised fuel remains at RM1.99 per litre for RON95 petrol and RM2.15 per litre for diesel sold in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

  The Finance Ministry said while global oil prices show signs of easing, there is still uncertainty in energy markets, and global supply chains still need time to recover from the West Asia conflict.
