MACC 

• In a sarcastic message to the MACC, Rafizi Ramli advised the anti-graft agency to email him if they are interested in recording his statement for their probe involving an RM1.1 billion government deal with British semiconductor giant Arm Holdings.

  The Pandan MP said that it is the preferred method of contacting him since he does not use WhatsApp or answer calls from unknown numbers.

  

  “Don’t worry, I have never run away. I have been detained by authorities dozens of times since 2010, and not once have I fled,” he added.

  The former economy minister’s social media post comes after his ex-aide, James Chai, today presented himself at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to facilitate the graft buster’s investigation.

Negeri Sembilan crisis

• DAP Youth has urged Pakatan Harapan’s top leadership to review its cooperation with Umno following the political crisis in Negeri Sembilan, which saw 14 Umno assemblypersons withdrawing their support for Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

  In a statement, the party wing said it strongly condemned any attempt to form a backdoor government at any level.

  

  DAP Youth also urged BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also deputy prime minister, to intervene in the Negeri Sembilan crisis.

  Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today confirmed that Aminuddin will remain menteri besar, following a decree by Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, Bernama reported.

Court

• Anwar’s former aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin, has failed to transfer his corruption case to the Kuala Lumpur High Court for trial.

  Judge Noor Ruwena Nurdin, in dismissing Shamsul’s application today, said that the application has failed to meet the legal requirement under Section 417 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows criminal cases to be transferred to the High Court if there are complex legal issues.

  

  This means that Shamsul’s case would continue to be heard in the Sessions Court.

  Shamsul was charged and pleaded not guilty to five corruption charges in December last year, in which he was accused of receiving more than RM200,000 from businessperson Albert Tei, in his capacity as Anwar’s political secretary at that time.

eHati controversy

• Police remain on the hunt for the founders of the controversial eHati marriage motivation programme, after the duo reportedly failed to present themselves in court to face charges.

  

  Noting that police are cooperating with Interpol on the matter, Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said during a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters today that the couple are believed to be overseas.
