Negeri Sembilan

  • Hundreds of Pakatan Harapan supporters gathered near the Tunku Abdul Rahman stadium in Seremban for a night of speeches featuring top coalition leaders and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

    Also in attendance were state-level leaders in the aftermath of the Negeri Sembilan leadership crisis, which has so far concluded with a renewed commitment between the central Harapan and BN leadership to support Aminuddin’s administration.

    Many among the crowd came dressed in their party colours, including a PKR blue-and-white t-shirt with “Team Tok Min” on the back in reference to the menteri besar.

    An image of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is featured on the stage backdrop, posters, and official programme, but as of 9pm, it remains unclear whether the Harapan chairperson will be joining the event.

Klang Valley floods

  • Heavy rain since 4pm today has triggered flash floods in several parts of the Klang Valley, bringing traffic to a standstill.

    Bernama quoted a Malaysian Highway Authority spokesperson saying a flash flood was reported at KM48.0 of the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) from Kinrara towards Awan Besar, resulting in a four-kilometre traffic jam.

    Flooding was also reported on the Kuchai Link towards the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and at KM18.9 heading towards Maju Jaya, where one lane was submerged.

    Meanwhile, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said floodwaters reached 121cm at a food court in Section 51A, Petaling Jaya, submerging vehicles parked nearby.

  • The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said eight vehicles were trapped in flash floods this afternoon.

    Five were trapped at Jalan Awan Kecil, Taman OUG, Sri Petaling; two at Jalan Kuchai Lama heading towards Jalan Klang Lama; and one at the Kuala Lumpur–Seremban Expressway tunnel heading towards Sri Petaling.

    “Personnel conducted monitoring in the surrounding areas to ensure the situation was under control and no casualties were reported,” Bernama quoted the department as saying.

Fuel prices

  • The retail price of unsubsidised RON95 petrol will increase by five sen to RM4.02 per litre for the coming week, effective midnight tonight.

    Likewise, the price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will be increased by five sen to RM5.17.

    The price of other types of fuel will be unchanged, including subsidised RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre.

    “Petroleum prices remain above US$100 per barrel because the West Asia conflict remains unresolved.

    “This situation is also creating global supply constraints for crude oil and petroleum products, and the problem is becoming more acute as production and refining facilities in the region suffer damage,” the Finance Ministry said.
