Water festival

  • Selangor PAS Youth has called for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing to resign over the Rain Rave Water Festival 2026 in Bukit Bintang, which it said has angered the majority of Malaysians.

    According to its vice-chief, Faizzuddin Zai, the festival has tarnished the country's good name and its identity.

    "The arrogance and disrespect shown by this minister will cause the majority of Malaysian voters to reject Pakatan Harapan and Umno in the upcoming 16th general election," he said in a statement.

  • A special needs education teacher in Sabah has been named as the South-East Asia and Pacific regional winner for this year's Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards.

    According to the award website, Velerie Wheelervon Primus, who teaches at SK Bingkor in Keningau, was recognised for his work of converting an abandoned teachers’ quarters into a fully equipped Multisensory Learning Centre to offer much-needed early occupational therapy services. 

    "This initiative not only provided early intervention access for neurodivergent students but also established a practical and sustainable inclusive education model for rural communities," it said. 

    Velerie had also led a self-funded Education Road Tour across the country and developed a home-based “NeuroArts Parenting Module” that helps parents to conduct structured support and intervention at home, it added.
