Najib Tun Razak has reminded the people to be wary of the false promises and tactics of the opposition to garner support in the next general election.

He said it has become the norm for the opposition parties to make all kinds of promises and use various tactics to win votes in an election, including making promises which they cannot fulfill.

The deputy premier said it has been proven that only the BN government has the track record to bring about change and fulfill the aspirations of the people.

"It is well known in terms of the opposition parties that they are very, very long on promises but, when it comes to delivery, they are very short," he told reporters at a Kuala Lumpur function today.

'We deliver what we promise'

The deputy prime minister said that among the promises made by the opposition parties were that they would reduce toll rates and fuel prices.

Najib said the BN government implemented the promises it made to the people.

"We deliver what we promise and that is important for voters to bear in mind. It is not what you promise but the level of confidence in terms of what you can deliver," he said in a Bernama report.

On the lobbying for electoral seats prior to the general election, Najib said every leader should accept the fact that he or she can be selected to contest or not chosen at all.

"That is the reality when one is a member of a political party," he said, adding that each party member was subject to the rules and discipline of the party".
