• The Road Transport Department (RTD) agreed to immediately restore its online vehicle ownership transfer service following advice from Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who stressed that system improvement works should not inconvenience users.

  In a Facebook post today, Loke said he had discussed the matter with RTD director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli after media reports on the temporary suspension of the online service.

  The department had also informed the Transport Ministry of the need for urgent improvements to the online platform, following the RTD’s exposure to liability due to abuse and fraud cases linked to the system.

  

  The department had announced last night the immediate suspension of its online vehicle ownership transfer service across all digital platforms, including its public portal, kiosks, and service providers such as MyEG Sdn Bhd and eAuto Sdn Bhd.

  The move followed complaints alleging vehicle ownership transfers had been carried out without knowledge of the registered owner.

Politics

• Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has slammed allegations circulating on social media that he illegally helped Chinese nationals apply for Malaysian citizenship.

  In a statement today, the DAP politician attached screenshots of the allegations by individuals on Facebook, accusing them of deliberately spreading “extreme slander”.

  

  Demanding follow-up action on the matter, he said he has since filed a report with authorities.

• Three senators have been sworn into office today, including a new appointee.

  Noor Inayah Ya’akub, who is also the chief executive officer and vice-chancellor of the International University of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council, was elected by the Penang state assembly to serve a three-year term until May 13, 2029.

  

  Meanwhile, Hussin Ismail and Dr RA Lingeshwaran have been re-elected by the Terengganu and Penang state assemblies, respectively.

  Lingeshwaran’s term is also slated to end on May 13, 2029, while Hussin’s term ends on April 22, 2029.
