Schools, underprivileged communities, rehabilitation centres, and government agencies are among those affected by the government’s move to suspend Subang MP Wong Chen’s access to the MyKhas portal.

Wong said his office has been denied access to the portal for more than a week without any official written explanation from the Prime Minister’s Department’s Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), despite several letters and official communications sent to its offices in Selangor and Putrajaya.

“This continued access restriction is no longer merely an administrative inconvenience to my office.

“It is now directly affecting important Projek Mesra Rakyat applications for the people of Subang across various categories,” he said during a press conference at the Subang Parliamentary Service Centre in Puchong today.

Previously, Wong’s office discovered on May 20 that it had been blocked from uploading Projek Mesra Rakyat applications for schools in Subang.

The move came three days after he attended a Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) event organised by former PKR MPs Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Repairs, repaint, upgrades on hold

Commenting further, Wong said that before the restriction, his office had successfully uploaded Projek Mesra Rakyat applications involving 40 schools, but additional applications could not be processed due to the restriction.

“Among the five affected schools are SJKC Chee Wen, SK Seksyen 2 Bandar Kinrara, SK Puchong Jaya 2, SJKT Castlefield, SK USJ12, and SK Subang Jaya.

“Among the delayed projects are school fence repairs, building repainting works, science laboratory upgrades, installation of information boards, and improvements to student facilities,” he said.

Apart from the education sector, Wong said low-income communities at Pangsapuri Angsana USJ1 and Pangsapuri Melur Taman Bukit Kinrara were also affected by delays in the applications, which impacted welfare programmes and cost-of-living assistance.

“Two community-based rehabilitation centres (PDK), namely PDK Cahaya Kasih and PDK Wawasan, have also reportedly been affected as plans to build sensory rooms for autistic children and individuals with special needs could not proceed,” he said.

Wong also listed several federal agencies, including the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station, Puchong fire and rescue station, Serdang district police headquarters, and the SS17 police station, as among those affected.

“In addition, religious institutions, including Surau Al-Mukminin and Sri Subramaniar Temple, are also unable to carry out repair projects under the Projek Mesra Rakyat allocation,” he added.

When contacted after Wong initially revealed the access ban, the ICU told Malaysiakini that it would not issue any statement on Wong’s case.

Malaysiakini also contacted Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul for comment and clarification on how Wong may pursue his case in Parliament.

Johari said the matter would be best handled between Wong, the executive, and the government agency involved.

‘Put it in writing so I can respond’

Wong said it is disappointing that various parties have been forced to bear the consequences of an administrative restriction imposed without notice and due process.

Additionally, Wong mentioned that his office had previously been recognised by the Prime Minister’s Department’s Selangor ICU as among the parliamentary offices that managed government allocations professionally, transparently, and systematically.

“If this restriction is politically motivated, I want it stated in writing so I can seek legal advice on whether it constitutes an abuse of administrative power,” he said.

He also stressed that the government’s administrative and allocation systems should be used to help the people, not to hinder elected representatives from carrying out their responsibilities to their constituents.
