  • Muda will announce its candidates for the Johor state election over the weekend on June 20 and 21, said its Johor election director Rasid Abu Bakar.

    He said the party has conducted a comprehensive candidate selection process to identify those who have integrity, leadership qualities, commitment to the party’s cause, and willingness to serve.

    The time and location of the announcement event will be announced later, he said in his statement.

  • Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar has chastised Johor caretaker menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi, saying he is using the Johor royal institution as a shield against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s remarks.

    “Such an august institution should not be used as a shield to protect anyone’s political position,” he said in a statement.

    He was referring to Hafiz’s statement on Tuesday, where he, among others, responded to Anwar’s call for Johoreans to elect wise and principled leaders by reminding him that the menteri besar and state exco members are appointed with the sultan’s royal assent.
