Fuel prices

• Retail fuel prices for both subsidised and unsubsidised petrol and diesel remain unchanged for the coming week, said the Finance Ministry.

This is due to global crude oil prices moderating over the past week, driven by a decline in the geopolitical risk premium, a recovery in supply flows and intensified price competition among major producers.

“However, recent developments in West Asia, including the latest United States strikes on Iran yesterday, indicate that risks to prices and supply remain as long as the conflict remains unresolved.

“In the medium term, expectations of a global oversupply following the recovery in production and moderation in demand are expected to limit further price increases. However, any new disruptions to key trade routes could trigger significant price volatility,” Bernama quoted it as saying.

Court

• The Federal Court has set Oct 8 to hear applications by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the attorney-general, seeking leave to appeal against a Court of Appeal ruling that allowed the Malaysian Bar to challenge the discontinuation of the Yayasan Akalbudi corruption case.

According to Bernama, the dates were fixed during a case management held before Federal Court deputy registrar Rahimah Rahim today.
