Newly elected Galas state assemblyperson Che Hashim Sulaima is said to be in ‘critical’ condition after being involved in a car accident near Gua Musang, Kelantan yesterday evening.

According to Bernama , Che Hashim had lost control of his vehicle while traveling towards Kuala Kerai with his wife Aida Zakaria and four children.

Gua Musang district police chief Supt Ahmad Tarmizi Abd Haq said Che Hashim, Aida and one of their children suffered internal bleeding while the other three children suffered light injuries.

"Che Hashim and his wife are in quite critical condition as they suffered internal bleeding in the head and were rushed to the Kuala Krai Hospital while two of their children were taken to the Gua Musang hospital for treatment," said Ahmad Tarmizi.

Meanwhile, PAS official organ Harakah Daily today reported that Che Hashim has regained consciousness following the incident and was in stable condition.

Gua Musang PAS chief Dr Zulkifli Mohamad said Che Hashim’s car had fell into a ditch at a palm oil estate.

Stable condition

Zulkifli confirmed that Che Hashim suffered injuries to the head following the accident.

He added that Che Hashim’s youngest daughter was seriously injured due to internal bleeding in the abdomen while Aida suffered a broken leg.

Zulkifli also advised supporters not to worry about Che Hashim’s health status as he was in stable condition and recovering.

During the March 8 general elections, Che Hashim edged Umno incumbent Mohamad Saufi Deraman by 646 votes for the Galas state seat.

The seat is in the Gua Musang parliamentary constituency, an Umno stronghold. It is learnt that this was Che Hashim’s second attempt to wrest the seat from Umno.
