The Star and The Sun led with the news that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will seek an audience with the King, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, to resolve the crisis over the Terengganu MB appointment.

The Star also headlined that the MCA will hold party elections on Oct 18.

New Straits Times front-paged Abdullah’s assurance that the pace for reforms will be quickened, acknowledging the unhappiness expressed by Malaysians at the general election.

Malay newspaper

Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian led with Abdullah’s announcement of three new agenda to reduce people’s burden, which includes no price hike in oil prices and electric tariff.

Berita Harian also headlined that the prime minister will seek an audience with the king regarding the issue of Terengganu MB.

Tamil newspapers

Tamil Nesan led with the cold-blooded murder of an Indian man while he was having his dinner at a restaurant in Lukut, Negeri Sembilan.

Makkal Osai also had the same story, stating that the man was shot seven times by an unidentified person.

Utusan Malaysia urged the police to co-operate closely with the society and to be committed in fighting crime to regain public confidence. Utusan also said the public should continue to give support to the police in order to keep the crime rate low.

Berita Harian commented on the proposal by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Sharir Samad to create an open market to control prices, saying that this new policy should be thoroughly studied to ensure it does not fail.

New Straits Times commented on Zaid Ibrahim’s bid for judicial reforms, saying that it was time to put the ghost of the past behind and move forward towards judicial restoration.

The Sun said the new Selangor state government must help the aggrieved religious groups to recover from the hurt caused by recent temple abolishment incidents and to ensure that this will not happen again. The daily also applauded the Sultan Selangor’s calls for the new state exco to take stern action against religious extremist.

Tamil Nesan commented on the need of the police force to continue improving their service for the people.

Makkal Osai listed down the ways the rakyat can approach various government agencies for healthcare assistance, especiallu financial in nature.
