Both the New Straits Time and the Star both headlined the BN component parties' support for Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi following Sapp's decision to declare a loss of confidence of the premier's leadership.

Bahasa Malaysia newspapers

Utusan Malaysia led with the PM's statement that Sapp's decision of no-confidence was not a collective decision taken by the party but a solitary decision made by its president Yong Teck Lee.

Berita Harian also headlined with the BN component parties' undivided support for the premier.

Tamil newspapers

Tamil Nesan led with MIC S Samy Vellu urging the prime minister to release the Hindraf 5 from their ISA detention.

Makkal Osai reported that one of the Hindraf 5, P UThayakumar was taken to the Taiping hospital yesterday for treatment.

Malaysia Nanban also led with ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad blaming Samy Vellu for the MIC's failures. The daily also had Samy Vellu claiming that a top leader from MIC was responsible for organising a protest against him this Sunday.

All the dailies also reported in the BN's inaction against Sapp yesterday.

New Straits Times commented on Yong Teck Lee's decision to rock the boat when BN was at its lowest ebb. Yong's blatant cynicism devaluated his righteous justification like the illegal immigrant problem, the daily said, adding that Sapp may not have to leave BN but Yong would definitely have to leave Sapp.

Berita Harian opined that Yong had turned his back on the BN solidarity by declaring his no-confidence stand towards the PM's leadership. The paper called the move "rude" and will brew a political storm in Malaysia, which in turn will affect the people who are already reeling from the hike in fuel prices.

Malaysia Nanban welcomed the government's move to help medical graduates from non-recognised universities, but added that more medical seats should be allocated for students in local varsities.

Tamil Nesan criticised Yong Teck Lee and his party Sabah for betraying Prime Minister Abdullah.
