On Police: Report aims to sabotage sodomy probe

Jo Dumas: The police, as if they haven't done enough to make the case against themselves regarding their professionalism and neutrality, say that certain parties are attempting to ‘sabotage' the probe.

Unless you have a ‘plan' to begin with, what is there to ‘sabotage'? In fact, the police, if they were doing their job, should already have been wary of this report and stated so.

Or they should have thanked the public that private citizens are aiding the police in finding out the truth and should have encouraged that more information be sent to the police to process.

But instead of acknowledging their knowledge of the report, thanking the public or promising to thoroughly investigate this new revelation, the police are accusing others of ‘sabotage' and are contemplating options to stop this ‘sabotage' in its tracks.

Now, this doesn't sound like a police force whose job is supposedly to conduct objective and neutral investigations.

Their only agenda should be to find the truth, which would naturally make it impervious to ‘sabotage' and not to engineer one with so many holes that ‘sabotages' are soon to appear everywhere and destroy their house of cards.

This is not 1998. If certain quarters are indeed keen on engineering a truth, it's no longer as easy. And when holes are discovered, you better not pee in your pants and shout ‘sabotage' to alert even more people to this hole.

I think it is time the police are more accountable to the public rather than trying to please the powers-that-be. Ever since Anwar's sodomy allegation surfaced, it has been surrounded by controversies.

We have Najib denying ever meeting Saiful, but admitting later on he had done so. Then Anwar was unceremoniously arrested while on his way home, even though the deadline of 2 pm was not yet breached.

Till today, Anwar has not received the police report against him and makes the public wonder why the delay? To all the other controversies, the medical report said that Saiful was indeed not sodomised.

Though it is certified by a practising doctor, the deputy IGP still claims that certain parties are out to sabotage the sodomy probe. What is the logic behind this statement?

The medical report does not lie. If the aim of the police is to establish the truth, this is it.

A report by a non-sympathiser of Anwar is the truth. How can the truth sabotage the probe? In fact the deputy IGP should have thanked the doctor.

With this report, the conclusion of the case is crystal clear and it would save the police force both time and money by stopping the probe.

They should instead channel their energy to more pressing issues like snatch thefts, robbery and corruption in high places.

Dear Mr Deputy IGP, contrary to what you believe, we the public are not confused (I speak for at least a million of us).

We believe you have not even investigated the medical report from Pusrawi hospital, and you say that the report is to confuse the public. How can you be so sure?

At this, we are confused. We are confused when allegations are made against the PM, DPM and their families, yet no investigations are carried out.

We are confused when the good public makes a report or SD, they get nicely grilled and charged in court.

We like to believe now, in order to not be confused, that the police force thinks the public is made up of fools and as long as they are not aligned to BN or Umno, whatever they say is not important.

The police must come out to explain the many cases that involve the political situation in our country.

This includes the private investigator who submitted two statutory declarations, one of which implicated Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak in the murder of the Mongolian Altantuya.

The police must request for the PI to return to Malaysia so that investigations into the two SDs can be carried out without fear or favour. The rakyat want to know the truth behind the two SDs.

The police must also come out fairly towards Anwar Ibrahim by providing Anwar with the report against him made by Saiful, his accuser. Why are they so secretive about this so-called police report?

The police must also come out to confirm or deny that the medical report leaked out by Puswari is true or false.

Dr Osman, who was allegedly harassed by the police, should come forward to make a statutory declaration regarding his harassment by the police.

The police must also drop all charges against Anwar if they have failed to find sufficient proof backing up Saiful's accusation. It is time the police show that they are not behind a conspiracy by being fair to the accused.

As it stands now, public opinion is that the police are trying all they can to nail Anwar, even if the facts fail to prove his guilt. If there is no case, drop it.

A Stupid Person: Well, if it's still not clear to the DG and DIG or whatever titles they hold in whatever government agency, we probably should spell it out:

On Saiful's uncle rubbishes leaked medical report

Garry Khoo: The way Mr Uncle Pet reacted and the words he used to respond were very rude. Why does he refuse to tell his full name?

If Saiful was really sodomised, the rakyat won't laugh at you Mr Uncle Pet. Please tell your full name in front of reporter.

Last but not least, it's not the problem of ‘uncle' or ‘aunty'. It's the problem how we dress up and not to let people misunderstand our sexual appearance.

It appears that we might be needing more ‘forensic departments' in the country. I simply urge all medical centres in the country to form a forensic service.

For all you know, those dengue cases need to pass the forensic team first.

On Anwar: It confirms plot to frame me

Anna Chan: As a Malaysian who has followed the recent developments of this Anwar-Saiful sodomy case, all I can say is the police never fail to entertain us by leading us to believe what they want us to believe.

They are good at shielding information so that we have an impartial view of the whole issue.

And the interesting part is that reports always surface to convince us that things are not the way that we were led to believe.

Keep up the good work, and even though I am feeling my intelligence is being insulted, it is sadly entertaining nevertheless

On Doctor: No evidence of sodomy

Angry Malaysian: Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai was reported to have said that the Malaysian Medical Council must look into the case as a breach of patient confidentiality.

This is an odious comment by a morally bankrupt politician from a morally bankrupt party. He ignores the cruelty and injustice meted out to Anwar and the damage done to the nation but worries about a breach of patient confidentiality.

Further damage to Anwar and the nation may be avoided by this leaked document by putting an end to this nonsense before it goes to a sham trial.

Never again will the Chinese community be led by a deceitful party which only exists to serve the ruling party and itself.

Young Chinese are joining PKR in droves while MCA is hastening its irrelevancy with gutless politicians making meek and subservient comments on this case as well as the recent PAS-Umno talks.

SS Goh: All these events after the12th election prove one thing and one thing only - Umno is desperate. Desperate people have signs and symptoms. Even a simple man on the street can read and understand.

Unfortunately, the desperados are also the ruling government. So they have the power to play all sorts of games to their benefit with no rules, no fair play or level playing fields.

Encouraged by the leader of the pack, Abdullah himself, the games they are playing are no games at all.

They're creating fear, and these provocations accusing Anwar of sodomy are all lumped up to create tensions to divert our attentions from the Lingam case, the Hindraf 5 who, for no reason, were detained under ISA.

Within their own party, there is no unity. Umno is in dire straits, and truly desperate.

On Reactions: Do the right thing, authorities told

Good Citizen: I can't agree more with Ambiga Screenevasan, chairperson of the Bar Council, that doing the right thing is the base of professionalism.

Enough is enough. Our country has come to a complete standstill with all of these issues surfacing, and the grevious damage done has adversely affected our institutional integrity.

If we all do our things right from day one, with no nonsense, we will not only be respected by our own countrymen, but the transparency of the rule of law will impress foreign investors who have the liberty to choose where they want to go.

Please listen to the masses. You will not go wrong. Our countrymen are smart enough to differentiate what is right and wrong.

Most of all, go back to the right track. BN has the majority in parliament. You are the leaders of this nation. Do what you should rightfully do and bring about policies to improve the per capital income of rakyat in this difficult time.

Please tell us if you can't, and the rakyat will certainly know what to do. Please remember that nobody is born to lead this country.

On By-election: Ezam willing to take on Anwar

Augustine: I read with great interest that Ezam Mohd Nor wants to challenge Anwar Ibrahim in the by-election in Kulim, Kedah. Ezam's wish is that Umno will choose him to stand against Anwar.

I also hope and wish that Umno will choose him to challenge Anwar. I want to see how many secret documents he can reveal about Anwar. He is talking as if every member in Umno admires or supports him.

Let him stand for the election and end his political mission. Let him get a helping hand from KJ to fulfil his dreams.

Where are all the boxes of documents sent to ACA for investigation? Nobody even bothered to investigate or look at them. By now, maybe the documents have been eaten by rats or sold to recycling companies.

If Ezam Mohd Nor challenges Anwar, I will fly over from Sarawak to give PKR moral support to defeat him.

He talks too much and is crazy for power that doesn't belong to him. A betrayer to a party will always be a betrayer to the boss.

Let us hope that Umno will choose this man to stand against Anwar, or else we won't know how many boxes of documents can be revealed by him.

Let him bring out all the suratkhabar lama . To all Malaysians: we don't need a leader without principals.

Farri-Henry Pang:

The only value Umno found in Ezam is none other than his being a close aide to Anwar. Ezam is a completely bankrupt politician, and he has not realised this as yet.

His name was made known to the public through his involvement in Anwar's cause and, prior to that, his training by Anwar in the government.

He got into ISA for his beliefs in Anwar's politics, and he continued to make his name within the PKR movement after his release from prison.

When he fell out with his comrades in PKR, he went into Gerak to be an anti-corruption watchdog, but could not make a name for himself.

Later, Umno found him valuable not because he has intelligence in politics, but because he was once with Anwar and was thus a perfect candidate to act as cannonball against Anwar. Without the name ‘Anwar', Ezam's value is almost zero.

Ezam, you will forever live in Anwar's shadow unless you can show the public that you can move without the use of Anwar in your politics.
