Better chance with PN
- Pahang Umno is confident of retaining the state in the next election regardless of whether it partners with Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional or contests the polls on its own.
However, Pahang Umno chief Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (above) said calculations made by the state party leaders during their recent retreats revealed they could score a major win if Umno pairs with PN.
"If we cooperate with Harapan, we will lose up to 15 percent of Malay support but can still win the election.
"We can also win if we choose to go solo, but the chance is slimmer and riskier for us," the Pahang menteri besar said in his winding-up speech at the 2026 Umno general assembly.
Wan Rosdy said the final decision on election cooperation, however, will be made by party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Pahang Umno will have a discussion with the deputy prime minister after they compile all the data.

Chinese unity
- Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin praised Chinese Malaysians for their unity in championing causes related to their community.
Speaking on the importance of consolidating Malay political power, the defence minister said this could be seen in issues related to the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), vernacular Chinese schools, and Chinese new villages.

"They may fight (among themselves), but they are never really divided," Khaled (above) said during his winding-up speech at the Umno AGM at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre this evening.
Women candidates
- Meanwhile, Khaled vowed that a win-win solution will be proposed regarding Umno Women's wing's request for at least 30 percent of candidates for the upcoming general election to come from the wing.
"Therefore, I hope that party wings will also guarantee that all party candidates will win during the general election," he said.

Khaled was responding to Umno Women's wing chief Noraini Ahmad, who previously lamented that the Umno leadership continues to dismiss the wing's long-held demands for 30 percent women candidates.
