Muhyiddin says Bersatu open to pacts as Malacca Harapan confirms talks

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has affirmed that his party is willing to form electoral pacts with partners who share similar ideals.
His remarks came amid Malacca Pakatan Harapan’s confirmation that it is negotiating with Bersatu and other parties on possible cooperation for the state polls.
Malacca Harapan chairperson Adly Zahari said the negotiations were being held based on decisions made by the Harapan presidential council and aimed at forming a “Harapan Plus” collaboration, Bernama reported yesterday.
“The negotiations also include Bersatu, but any form of cooperation will only be announced after the negotiation process has been completed,” he was quoted as saying.
Adly added that no negotiations have been held with BN representatives thus far.

In his speech at Bersatu’s 10th anniversary celebration in Petaling Jaya last night, Muhyiddin (above) agreed with those who opposed the party contesting elections on its own.
He said Bersatu would be better off as part of a political coalition, provided its partners respected the party’s struggle and shared its principles and ideals.
“However, in determining coalition partners, it must be partners who respect our struggle, appreciate our contributions, and most importantly, partners whose principles and ideals of struggle align with our party.
“Bersatu is ready to cooperate with any party that accepts and respects the fundamental principles of Bersatu's struggle,” the Pagoh MP said.
Kleptocracy-free developed nation goal
Among others, he said Bersatu remains committed to creating a developed nation free from kleptocracy and upholding a democracy that respects the rakyat’s rights as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
He also confirmed that Bersatu had held preliminary discussions with Muda on electoral cooperation, describing the initial response as “positive”.
“At the same time, Bersatu is also open to pioneering cooperation with other parties that respect the fundamental principles of Bersatu's struggle. This is the primary condition.
“Bersatu will never compromise its principles of struggle merely to gain profit and power,” he added.
Party secretary-general Azmin Ali also reportedly said that Bersatu is being courted by parties interested in forming an alliance to face rivals such as Umno.

According to Free Malaysia Today, Azmin (above) said Bersatu’s use of a Petaling Jaya City Council hall for the party’s event yesterday suggested good relations with Harapan in Selangor.
“This is the first time Bersatu has been honoured by being allowed to use the Civic Hall. Do you understand me?” he was quoted as saying.
Nothing to do with court cases
Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of the event, Muhyiddin denied claims that the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s decision to acquit him in the Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd case was linked to efforts to cooperate with Harapan.
Insisting that he did not see how the court’s decision could be related to Bersatu’s political moves, Muhyiddin reiterated that the charges against him were withdrawn as they were “baseless”.
The Attorney-General's Chambers said its decision to halt prosecution against Muhyiddin in the Bukhary Equity case was to safeguard three other charges levelled against him.
The four charges for which Muhyiddin received a full acquittal cover three money laundering charges and one abuse of power charge involving RM200 million related to Bukhary Equity.
The former premier still faces three charges of using his position to obtain RM25.3 million in bribes for the party from three companies - Nepturis Sdn Bhd, Mamfor Sdn Bhd and KCJ Engineering Sdn Bhd - in connection with Jana Wibawa, a Covid-19 stimulus initiative to help bumiputera contractors.

"respected the party’s struggle and shared its principles and ideals". SEVENTY years after totally monopolising power at ALL LEVELS, utilising the Revenues largely for their own people, who also garner almost every job in the Public Sector, shareholdings obligatory in private companies for their own people, these parties are still struggling - to do exactly what? As to principles and ideals, isn't this man in Court on Corruption charges? Yes, yes, I know DNAA, pardon, NFA, so no worries. The Billion worth seized from the NR loot at a Residence in Bukit Bintang, all returned to them. The cash in Hundreds of Millions found in NR's home, returned. I cast my mind around, but failed to come up with a single Democracy (Have I spelt that correctly?), which has such neat laws and regulations that work most handsomely for a very select few.
