A minimum of 30 percent bumiputera equity ownership is no longer a requirement for private limited companies operating private educational institutions under the Education Ministry.
The ministry said the decision was reached following discussions with the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry.
"This adjustment was made to meet the current needs of the education sector and ensure participation remains open to all parties wishing to contribute to the nation's educational development," Education Ministry said in a statement today.
The ministry noted the concerns raised regarding the 30 percent bumiputera equity requirement for specific education facilities owned by private limited companies, as outlined in the Private Educational Institution Policy Statement Book published in 2006.
It added that it appreciates the contributions of all private operators and will continue working with all stakeholders to benefit the education of Malaysian children.

Great move and decision by MOE and govt. The bad decision was taken during the pre Harapan govt, blame them.
Force equity is equal to force nationalisation? Foreign investor are watching also beside local investors force to invest abroad ?
The NMs must be grateful for this reform and vote for Anwar and DAP in GE16.
