Negeri Sembilan police’s presence at events involving factions in the state’s ongoing customary crisis is to ensure public peace and safety, said state police chief Alzafny Ahmad (above).

In a statement last night, he said the presence should not be interpreted as police favouring any party.

“As the agency responsible for maintaining peace and enforcing the law, the Royal Malaysia Police will continue to perform its duties professionally, fairly, and in accordance with the law, without siding with any party,” he said.

Jalur Gemilang

A Johor DAP assemblyperson has raised concerns over the alleged removal of social media posts criticising errors in a Jalur Gemilang poster featuring a state exco member.

Senai assemblyperson Wong Bor Yang said former Bersatu member Thaqib Shaker’s posts were no longer accessible after what he claimed was a legal request or complaint by the Johor government.

The posts allegedly highlighted mistakes in housing and local government exco Jafni Shukor’s Malaysia Day greeting, including a Jalur Gemilang with a missing white stripe and an 18-pointed star.

Wong urged the state government to clarify whether it had pressured the platform to remove the posts, and to provide a transparent explanation to prevent public confusion and negative perceptions.
