New Straits Times and the Star front paged th e Umno Supreme Council's emergency session that would discuss power transition between party president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Najib Abdul Razak today.

Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian also headlined the Umno Supreme Council emergency meeting.

Tamil newspapers

Malaysia Nanban headlined Hindraf coordinator S Thanenthiran challenging MIC president S Samy Vellu not to play politics with the detention of Hindraf 5 who are currently detained under ISA.

Tamil Nesan front-paged a statement of S Pushpaneela, the wife of Kota Alam Shah state assemblyman M Manoharan. In it she urged Hindraf coordinator Thanenthiran not to further politicise the Hindraf 5's ISA detention issue as it would jeopardize the chances of the their release.

Makkal Osai led with Deputy Minister in Prime Minister's Department T Murugiah questioning why he shouldn't interfere in the food for ISA detainees as it was part of responsibility to do so. He said this in response to Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar's comments on that issue.

Chinese newspapers

Sin Chew Daily, Oriental Daily and Nanyang Siang Pau led with Umno's emergency supreme council morning meeting to discuss the speedying up of the power transition plan.
