The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court will decide on Nov 27 on the case of housewife Yim Pek Ha who was charged with abusing her Indonesian maid four years ago.

Judge Akhtar Tahir announced the verdict date today after lawyers from both sides made their final submissions.

abused indonesian maid nirmala bonat then and now 170108 Yim is charged with three counts of causing grievous hurt with a hot electric iron and hot water on Nirmala Bonat ( photo ), who was 19 at the time, at the Villa Putra condominium in Kuala Lumpur between January and April 2004.

Yim, a former air stewardess, is also charged with voluntarily causing hurt to Nirmala with a steel mug at the same place on May 17, 2004.

Yim is represented by Jagjit Singh and Akbardin Abd Kader while deputy public prosecutor Raja Rozela Raja Toran, heads the prosecution team.

According to Bernama , the prosecution submitted that Yim was the sole person who could have abused Nirmala at the material time.

Raja Rozela said that there was also no evidence to suggest that Nirmala was abused by someone else nor was she living elsewhere.

On claims by the defence that Nirmala had inflicted the injuries on herself, Raja Rozela said this was not witnessed by anyone nor was there any reasons for her to do so.

Raja Rozela also rebutted claims by the defence that Nirmala exhibited strange behaviour such as banging her head against the wall, scratching her face, sleeping naked and biting her lips.

"It goes beyond comprehension that an employer would just sit back and watch the maid pulling stunts like Nirmala allegedly did, and did not do anything to prevent it.

"Any reasonable employer would not stop to think twice about keeping Nirmala as it was probably unsafe having a maid like her living under the same roof and with young children."
