A 22-year-old college student, believed to be a member of the Johor royal family, pleaded guilty at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court this morning to consuming methamphetamine.

His 24-year-old girlfriend was charged with trafficking 240 grams of the same drug.

Firdhaus Mohammed Ahmed was charged with consuming the drug at A-16-10, Casa Tropicana Condominium, Jalan Persiaran Tropicana, Petaling Jaya, at about 1am on Nov 21 this year.

His partner, Imelda Nasreen Mispan, 24, from Ayer Hitam, Muar, was charged with trafficking the drug at the same place and time and also with consuming the banned substance.

No plea was recorded on the trafficking charge but Imelda pleaded guilty to consuming the same drug.

Firdhaus, whose address was given as Istana Bukit Kesenangan, Johor Baru, was represented by counsel Rajpreet Kaur while Imelda was not represented. The duo could be slapped with a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or a two-year jail term.

Sentencing next March

Magistrate K Pavani fixed March 10 next year for sentencing. She also agreed to reduce bail to RM1,500 with one surety for Firdhaus. The student managed to post bail.

Earlier, assistant prosecuting officer Nur Aishah Ahmad Zakiyuddin had applied for bail to be fixed at RM2,500 in one surety

The magistrate also fixed Jan 9 to transfer Imelda's case to the Shah Alam High Court.

During mitigation, Rajpreet had told the court that Firdaus’ father was a retired army commando.
