The Teng Chang Khim saga has taken another twist with four DAP Klang branches accusing the renegade party stalwart of tainting the opposition party's image.

teng chang khim The branches submitted a joint letter of complaint to the DAP disciplinary committee, calling for action to be taken against Teng, who is also Selangor Assembly speaker and Sungai Pinang state assemblyperson.

The letter, which is in Chinese, was signed by DAP Taman Klang Utama branch chairperson Ng See Leong, Pasar Besar branch chairperson Yeoh Theong Chee, Seri Pinang branch chairperson Puah Ju Kian and Pandamaran Pasar branch chairperson Tee Boon Hock.

Malaysiakini was given a copy of the one-page letter, which bore today’s date.

charles santiago In the letter, Teng was accused of making 'unfriendly remarks' in the Chinese press about DAP Klang parliamentarian Charles Santiago regarding the relocation of the Klang bus terminal.

Among others, Teng had reportedly claimed that Santiago had been 'bought over' by Barisan Nasional.

"We feel that Teng's remarks created a bad image for the party. Teng should be giving appropriate remarks instead of defaming those who disagree with the relocation," read the letter.

Contacted later, DAP disciplinary committee chairperson Chow Kon Yeow said he was not aware of the letter.

dap branches complaint letter against teng Meanwhile, Teng was also in the dark regarding the letter but stressed that he was not perturbed by the possibility of action being taken against him.

The politician, who has been sidelined by the party's top leadership for years, could not confirm if the matter would be discussed at tonight’s central executive committee (CEC) meeting. Teng is also a CEC member.

The letter also stated other examples where Teng had purportedly uttered remarks which went against party interest.

This included the time when Teng openly commented that he heard that local councillors could be bought for a mere RM200 to obtain council projects.

Apart from this, the letter also cited an excerpt of Teng's interview with Sin Chew Daily last August, where the politician said he would not participate in the Selangor DAP polls but did not keep to his word.

"Why does he not do what he says? This proves that he is not fit to be a assemblyperson. We feel that the party leadership and disciplinary committee should really look into Teng’s attitude and take the necessary action," read the letter.
