Hundreds were marooned at the Wangsa Maju LRT station this morning when all five ticket vending machines broke down.

While the crowd waited patiently for the machines to be repaired, lines stretched to outside the LRT station.

However, some passengers who grew impatient as time passed, sought other modes of transportation.

"I am going to be very late for work. If possible, I will lodge a complaint to the management," said a clerk, who wished to be known only as Zaleha.

Another passenger, Jason, remarked, "A friend of mine is going to be late for his school exam. As for me, I encountered a similar incident at the Ampang Park station (also on the Putra line).

"These LRT breakdowns occur frequently and it seems that no action has been taken despite numerous complaints from the public," he said.

The machines were finally fixed around 8.30am, with the next train arriving twelve minutes later. Some passengers had to wait as many as seven trains before boarding due to the long lines.

Wangsa Maju station is one of the most popular stops on the Putra LRT line.
