On ‘Yes, I took Fauzi to Najib's house but...'

Peter Ooi: Fauzi's accusation of being offered RM50million by Najib proves to be intriguing.

On one hand Fauzi is very sure that Najib had offered him the money to lure a few PKR assembly persons to cross over to BN.

He is so definite of the event that he even made a statutory declaration on the whole matter. But now former deputy defence minister Zainal Abidin Zin has denied that such an offer had been discussed at the meeting between Fauzi and Najib.

Someone must be telling a lie here. Whose statement is more reliable in the eyes of the public?

Going by the past records of statements by ministers, I believe Fauzi's claim has more credibility in the eyes of the public.

The public had been fed with too many unreliable, or shall I say, ‘not truthful' statements (too many to be listed) by ministers. Whatever comes out from the mouth of ministers is often taken with a pinch of salt.

On top of that, if Fauzi, an ordinary person, dares make such a serious allegation against the most powerful person in the country, the public would rather believe he has the facts to back up his claim.

Najib must come out to face the accuser and clear up the matter. Do not let others do the talking on his behalf while hiding behind the scenes.

In order that no such claim will ever take place in future, I believe it is time that an anti-hopping law be passed.

If it warrants a meeting with the DPM, it must be something very important! It does seems that our DPM is more accessible to the common folk than we have thought.

First, it was the victim in the now famous alleged sodomy case, and then this so-called unknown PKR leader.

I would have thought that for the a busy personality such as our DPM to meet a person, it would have to be of an utmost important and urgent agenda.

I would reserve my comments on this with the hope that our DPM could shed some light on what transpired during the meeting that it warrants a personal visit to the DPM's residence.

On PKR yet to receive quit letters from duo

Ayob K: I'm confused. The state reps say they handed in their resignation letters (even going as far as the sultan to validate it) and now PKR says they haven't?

Once again we come to the issue of political crossovers but this time PKR is on the receiving end. I, for one, am not in favour of such actions because it goes against the whole reason the candidates were elected int he first place.

I find it dishonest to do so as you were elected partly because of the party you are affiliated to and to change that after you win is wrong.

That being said, it is very hypocritical for PKR then to pull such dirty tactics such as pre-signed resignation letters and then trying to rope in the sultan to enforce them.

After all, crossovers have been PKR's main soapbox topic for nearly the past year.

There's the old saying that you can't have your cake and eat it too so if PKR have been all for the use of crossovers to gain power, why cry foul if it's done in reverse?

PKR has a lot of public support because they are viewed as something different to the dirty politics of the old guard but this support will soon disappear if they continue to act like the people they claim to fight against.

Teokeloomangoop: Clearly, many politicians are not doing the job that the rakyat elected them to do. They are too busy defecting, or waiting for the best ‘offer' to defect.

Money politics is rearing its head again, even more so than before.

Once again, I make the suggestion that we do not pay taxes until we have a working government. This as a sign of protest.

Enough is enough. Malaysians who love the country must take action against politicians who are unethical, who are opportunists, who are incompetent or just plain lazy.

On 'Suspend Najib immediately'

The deputy prime minister should be suspended immediately and subject to a thorough investigation, as his silence is tacit admission of guilt.

Pak Lah should take action; otherwise he will be viewed as ‘guilty by association'. Worse, by doing nothing, he is admitting to the world that his administration condones such corrupt and dirty political maneuvers.

Umno and the BN government now stand naked in plain wide view, their corrupted administration laid bare for all to see.

Any Malaysian who keeps quiet on this is just as guilty as Pak Lah. For this, I am ashamed to be a Malaysian. What about you?

On MIC's grand plan to include online membership

G-man: I guess the writing on the wall wasn't enough for MIC and its ‘relic president' in that they are no longer relevant.

I guess the failure of the online membership drive will further cement the notion in the minds of these clearly ignorant that they are not wanted and that their actions and inactions have clearly insulted and embarrassed all Indians in Malaysia.

On Samy Vellu issues show-cause letter to MIED CEO

John Johnson: ‘I think he (Samy Vellu) wants me out of MIED. I have been with the MIED for 14 years and now he is looking for things to kick me out. It is like a faultfinding mission,' she added.

‘She said that there was nothing for her to hide as everything which she undertook during her tenure as MIED CEO was based on instructions from the MIED board of directors, which Samy Vellu chairs.'

Now look at this statement carefully. If she was there for 14 years and following instructions from the board of directors and Samy Vellu himself, when did she think it was the right time to disclose all the irregularities - after 14 years?

It looks to me that as an individual with a clear conscience and high responsibility to all Indians, she should have done it at the earliest time possible.

It may look like she has enjoyed a lot of perks and now it is a case of ‘sour grapes'.

She should have come forward much earlier and exposed all the wrongdoings, why wait 14 years? Unbelievable.

On Unofficial 30% bus fare increase now official

: My question is, is this the right time to increase fares? In other countries like Singapore, public transportation fares are going down and tax reliefs are given.

In Taiwan, shopping vouchers are given out. These are to help their rakyat to overcome the financial crisis.

But our Malaysian government is about to increase the fares for public transportation that many of the middle and working class citizens are using. Is this a caring government?

The reasons cited are that operation costs, cost of spare parts and workers' salaries have gone up. But don't you think that the Singapore and Taiwanese governments are also facing those problems?

It is our government impotent with regards to solving problems? Reports also suggest that more Malaysians are to be retrenched so do you think they will welcome these hikes?

By increasing the fares, do you think more will use public transport? Public transport has not got better and I am totally against these fare hikes.

I hope this issue can be brought up in parliament for a debate. Sadly, RapidKL has also stopped its ‘Semua' and ‘Sepadu' tickets which gave special discounts for public transport users.
