The government has no plans to use the Internal Security Act against DAP chairperson Karpal Singh over his threats to sue the Perak sultan.

However the prime minister said that investigation against Karpal had started.

abdullah ahmad badawi pak lah parliament pc 101208 03 "When the investigation is completed, the report will be submitted to the Attorney-General for whatever action he deems fit," the prime minister told reporters today.

He was responding to calls from various parties for immediate action to be taken against Karpal, including under the ISA, to maintain public peace in the country.

Karpal had warned those who lodged police reports against him for wanting to sue Sultan Azlan Shah to be ready to face the consequences.

Abdullah also said that there was no need to take any action against ousted Perak Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin for refusing to leave the official residence of the menteri besar.

The prime minister said it was not necessary to take any action because Nizar had been advised to do vacate the residence, reported Bernama .

He believed that Nizar would leave finally and not take too long doing it because the state government had repeatedly reminded him to vacate the premises following the appointment of a new menteri besar.
