Perak's ousted menteri besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin is at the special appellate powers court in Jalan Duta for the mention of his suit against the appointment of a new menteri besar in the state.

A sprinkling of supporters were also present.

The suit, filed last Friday, is expected to be heard before Judicial Commissioner Mohamad Arif Md Yusof.

Mohd Nizar had turned to the courts after Barisan Nasional seized control of the state the resignation of four Pakatan Rakyat state representatives from their respective parties. Three became 'BN-friendly' independents while another rejoined Umno.

Subsequently, Perak ruler Sultan Azlan Shah instructed Nizar to step down and a new menteri, Zambry Abdul Kadir, was sworn in.

However, a defiant Nizar insists that he is still the legitimate menteri besar.

Zambry is represented by Perak legal advisor Ahmad Kamal Md Shahid. Senior federal counsel See Mee Chun is representing the Attorney-General's Chambers and counsel Hafarizam Harun is holding a watching brief for BN.
