With the by-election only one month away, the BN candidate for the Bukit Selambau by-election is yet to be revealed. Who is going to be the BN candidate seems to be a question on everyone’s mind.

He told Malaysiakini that he has not received any sort of letter regarding the list of candidates for Bukit Selambau. However, he said that he is very confident that he will win if he is chosen.

“The voters have trust in me, I will do everything that I can to help them,” he said.

“No one can do 100 percent, we cannot please everyone but I’m sure that I did everything in my ability to help people here,” Saravanan continued.

v saravanan Saravanan, 61, was Bukit Selambau representative and an executive councillor in previous BN Kedah government for 13 years between 1995 and 2008.

He did not defend his seat in last March’s general election to make way for a younger MIC candidate, S Krishnan, who lost to PKR’s V Arumugam.

He said that if he was chosen for the by-election, he will do his best to serve the people. “I’m still strong, and if I’m chosen then I will serve.”

Furthermore, he said that the Pakatan government has not done much for the people compared to MIC.

The Bukit Selambau state seat fell vacant after PKR's V Arumugam quit as assemblyperson and state exco on Feb 9. Arumugam had won the seat as an independent last March, beating MIC's S Krishnan with a 2,362 vote majority.

Early last month, the DAP unveiled the names of three candidates to contest for the Bukit Selambau seat. The candidates were the party's Lunas branch chairperson S Neelamekan, deputy state chairperson V Gnanaguru and state organising secretary Teoh Teik Guan.

Meanwhile, PKR have attracted eight volunteers for the Bukit Selambau by election.
