Consumers beware - fake goods are not just being sold in night markets or "pasar malams" but have crept into supermarkets as well.

And they are also sold at prices similar to those of genuine items, claims the Federation of Malaysia Consumers Association (Fomca) after an investigation into the matter.

The sale of imitation goods was getting rampant in the country as many consumers were ignorant of their rights, Fomca president Nadason Marimuthu told Bernama today.

He said consumers must know how to differentiate between genuine and fake goods.
