Probe judge Gopals non-promotion, Kayveas told

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's department M Kayveas should uncover the reasons behind senior judge Gopal Sri Ram's repeated denial into the Federal Court, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
Lim argued that Kayveas should save Gopal from the repeated suffering and humiliation as many junior judges are "leapfrogging" the experienced judge and becoming Federal Court judges for reasons unknown.
"If Kayveas is intent on helping judge Gopal get his promotion to the Federal Court, then he should try to elicit information on the reasons behind the Conference of Rulers' repeated rejections of judge Gopal," said Lim in a statement.
Kayveas was also reminded that Article 122B(1) of the Federal Constitution states that judges of the Federal Court, among others, is under the sole discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Prime Minister and Conference of Rulers.
Previously, Kayveas told Parliament that the prominent Courts of Appeal judge would be recommended for the post should there be a vacancy.
"I am hopeful he would be appointed as a Federal Court judge," said Kayveas according to The Sun .
