Singapore and Malaysia are to launch a joint two-year marketing campaign to raise the tourism profile of both countries.

"This marketing campaign will further foster closer rapport and understanding across all levels," Singapore's Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan said in a statement.

The campaign aims to make travel more attractive for visitors by providing complimentary passes to attractions in both Singapore and neighbouring Malaysia.

Brochures will also aim to promote joint awareness, the statement said.

"Malaysia and Singapore are natural partners ... it is only natural that we have extended this warm relationship to enhance our tourism position globally," Malaysian Minister of Tourism Leo Michael Toyad said in the same statement.
