Malaysia's top media group, Media Prima on Monday acquired Big Tree Outdoor, a leading outdoor advertiser to increase its revenue.

The purchase of 70 percent of Bigtree, worth RM97.2 million will contribute 11 percent to the Media Prima's profits, Abdul Rahman Ahmad, group managing director told reporters.

"The acquisition will help enhance Media Prima's earnings and will have a considerable upside to shareholders," Abdul Rahman said.

"We estimate that it will boost Media Prima's earnings per share by 6-10 percent this year," he added.

Media Prima is Malaysia's largest media operator with four terrestrial television stations, two radio stations and a major stake in New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) and The Right Channel, its existing outdoor business.

Bigtree is the country's leading outdoor advertising company and sells billboard space with concessions in expressways and transit lines nationwide.
