Rafizi warns PKR

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli came out of obscurity to add his voice to growing dissent against the party for courting four former state assemblypersons who caused the collapse of the Malacca government.

Rafizi, who was one of Anwar's top lieutenants, warned the party against taking shortcuts to gain power by fielding the quartet led by Idris Haron.

Former Batu MP Tian Chua, however, was of the opinion that Pakatan Harapan should team up with anyone they need to in order to win the Malacca state election.

The matter was discussed at a Harapan presidential council meeting last night, but no decision was made.

The good and bad of coal

In Kini News Lab's latest report, Malaysiakini explores just how big, and dirty, the local coal power industry is.

Coal power makes up almost half of the country's energy supply, and consumption is growing with around 42.9 million metric tonnes of coal used to produce energy locally in 2020.

While the capacity to generate renewable energy is rising, whether the country actually uses it is unclear.

Energy capacity projections for Peninsular Malaysia indicate that by 2030, coal will still make up about 30 percent of energy.

MySejahtera security flaw

A security flaw on the MySejahtera app was recently discovered that allows anyone to send out emails or one-time passwords (OTP) on behalf of the app.

The software developer who discovered the vulnerability said the exploit could potentially be used by “bad-faith actors” to send out emails with bad intentions from an official-sounding source.

The vulnerability does not involve leaked databases, but instead exploits APIs - software intermediaries that allow two applications to talk to each other.

The Health Ministry claimed it has plugged the holes that allowed the app to be exploited.
