Malaysiakini laptop seized

Police seized a laptop from Malaysiakini last week while the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission "preserved data" from our backend.

Strangely, the seizure and rummaging through our data is not because Malaysiakini is a suspect in a crime.

Instead, it is because Malaysiakini is a "witness" in the police probe against Khairy Jamaluddin on the royal addendum scandal.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil assured that the laptop would be returned to Malaysiakini after the investigations are completed.

However, the last time police seized one of our laptops, it took nine years before it was returned.

PM pledges school, hospital for Gaza

In a joint effort with Japan and the private sector, Malaysia will be building a school, hospital, and mosque as part of the early reconstruction of Gaza.

Former minister Rafidah Aziz commended Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's intentions but said that development efforts should be focused internally.

She cited the state of rural schools and hospitals which were in dire need of improvements.

PN's Malay-Indian Penang strategy

Perikatan Nasional appears to be mulling a strategy to focus on Penang's Indian and Malay electorate to capture the state.

Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP) is arguing that Gerakan can't make headway with Chinese voters, whom they view as solidly behind DAP.

It is even questioning why the Penang chief minister can't be an Indian.
