(Editor’s note: The report has been rectified for misquoting Razman as saying that Perak sold land to YTL. The error is regretted.)

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has dismissed Perak PAS Commissioner Razman Zakaria’s allegations that she is the daughter of YTL Corporation Berhad’s founder.

"PAS needs to know not all Yeohs are related," she said on X today.

The DAP lawmaker included a video of Razman making the accusation, where he also alleged that the Umno-led state government in the past sold a Perak cement company to YTL Group.

"Hannah Yeoh (above) is a child of a rich person, she is the daughter of YTL… Umno was ‘smart’ back then and sold (cement company) Perak-Hanjoong Simen to YTL for profit," he said in the clip.

In response to Razman’s remarks, Hannah’s private secretary Nor Miswary Ramli claimed that people from PAS are too lazy to read.

“The mentality of PAS people is that if the names are the same, there must be a connection,” she posted on X.

The full video of Razman’s speech is also available on his Facebook.

YTL family

YTL Group, one of Malaysia’s leading conglomerates, was founded by Yeoh Tiong Lay, who passed away in 2017.

The YTL community website lists Tiong Lay’s seven children, including Francis, Soo Min, Victor, Seok Hong, Michael, Soo Keng, and Mark.

Francis serves as the executive chairperson of YTL Group.

Razman’s remarks came a few days after another PAS representative, Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad, deposited RM830,000 into the account of a law firm representing DAP leaders after she lost a defamation lawsuit.

Mastura had alleged that Lim Guan Eng and his father, Kit Siang, were connected to Communist Party of Malaysia leader Chin Peng and that Seputeh MP Teresa Kok was related to the Lims.

Malaysiakini has contacted Razman, Hannah, and YTL Group for comment and is awaiting their responses.
