Putrajaya owes Sabah a lot of money

The federal government owes Sabah a considerable amount of money.

The High Court in Kota Kinabalu ruled that Putrajaya had failed to carry out its constitutional duty to ensure that Sabah receives 40 percent of federal revenue collected from the state.

Further, Putrajaya also failed to carry out its constitutional duty to meet with Sabah every five years to recalculate the payments.

This is because the government did not carry out any review from 1974 to 2021.

The government has been ordered to sort things out with Sabah.

Politicians from all sides in the state are pressing the government not to appeal the decision.

Taking phones, social media away from teens

The government is mulling a smartphone and social media ban for children under 16.

This was among the proposals made in cabinet to curb an allegedly rising tide of bullying and violence in schools.

Another proposal is to have an "omnipresent" police presence in schools.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry will introduce Character Education in the 2027 school curriculum, aimed at producing students with noble and responsible character.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also warned schools not to protect bullies.

FAM to probe 'heritage' player scandal

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is finally investigating the heritage player scandal.

To ensure the probe by an independent committee is unhindered, FAM also suspended secretary-general Noor Azman Rahman.

It is not clear why Noor Azman's suspension was necessary or if he had any role in the alleged falsification of documents on seven foreign footballers who were given citizenship.
