Thousands of Chinese celebrate the first day of Chinese New Year at Thean Hou Temple in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, Feb 16, 2018.

This year's celebration marks the year of the dog in the Chinese lunar calendar.

Thean Hou Temple is one of the oldest in the country. The six-tiered temple is in honour of the Chinese sea goddess Mazu.
