Selangor PAS has given its two state assemblypersons who declared support to PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as menteri besar 24 hours to retract their statement.

Otherwise, the duo will have to face "consequences", Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said.

"I advise the two assemblypersons retract their statement or Selangor PAS will proceed with disciplinary action, based on an oath taken by them when they stood for election," he said in a statement.

Earlier, PAS secretary general Mustafa Ali (right) said told party organ Harakahdaily that the party has instructed Selangor PAS comissioner Iskandar Samad to submit a report on the matter.

"(This) contradicts with the party stand. An investigation will called," Mustafa wrote on Facebook.

PAS assemblypersons Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) and Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang), who were present had declared their support to Wan Azizah at a press conference this afternoon.

The pair joined 28 other state assemblypersons to support Azizah and declare their loss of confidence in current menteri besar, Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

'Don't shove it down our throats'

Meanwhile, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub made an impassioned plea to Pakatan parties not to "shove the decision (on the Selangor MB) down (PAS') throat".

"The process of choosing a menteri besar should be done carefully together through consensus. Don't take the approach of pushing it down our throats.

"At least give us a choice, so we can select the best to serve the rakyat," he said in a statement.

Salahuddin ( left ) said that such decisions should not be "rushed" and urged DAP and PKR to give PAS until Aug 17 to make the decision.

He said the decision to tell a MB to resign and charges of corruption are not trivial matters.

"We need to go into these factors in detail so we arrive at a just decision for all – the rakyat, the palace and the individual in question.

"Justice is the core of Pakatan and must be upheld," he added.

He also assured DAP and PKR that PAS is "still committed to the struggle against injustice, corruption, cronyism and nepotism".

"We have struggled against this with our time, money, blood, sweat and tears, some have even given their lives (in the Memali incident).

"So, please, don't question our commitment. We were there when you were sleeping," he said.

Salahuddin also urged all to pray for Pakatan's survival during these trying times.

Saari: I'm prepared

Meanwhile, Saari (below) when contacted said he is prepared to meet Mustafa to explain his presence in supporting Wan Azizah today.

He said he can provide strong grounds for his actions, when the party calls him .  

“I am sure I will be called. I have my arguments ready and I can explain. I am not afraid to present my arguments,” said the Hulu Kelang assemblyperson when contacted by Malaysiakini .

However, when asked on whether he was prepared to leave the party, Saari replied that he will not leave PAS but will continue to fight alongside Pakatan.  

Hasnul, on the other hand, is convinced that several PAS leaders will defend his stand, if a probe is conducted following his actions with Saari.  

"I leave it to the party to make its decision because many PAS leaders, I am certain, will stand by me," he said.
