Umno MP: Pakatan a pact of personal interests
The reason behind the political imbroglio in Selangor is the unclear direction of Pakatan Rakyat and respective party interests, says Umno MP Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
The reason behind the political imbroglio in Selangor is the unclear direction of Pakatan Rakyat and respective party interests, says Umno MP Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
"In the Selangor menteri besar crisis, each Pakatan party appears to have an interest and no common direction, so they cannot find a middle ground to solve the issue.
"This is because there is no clear policy, principle or philosophy. What remains clear is the efforts taken to achieve the objective of certain quarters," Shamsul ( left ) told Umno Online .
In other words, the Lenggong MP said, PKR, DAP and PAS are not working towards the success of Pakatan’s objective but rather for their respective party interests.
Shamsul said it could also be concluded that the crisis has shown opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's failure in leading Pakatan.
'Anwar has failed to lead'
‘I can conclude that Anwar has failed to lead (the coalition). And what is obvious is that the things they have accused Umno of doing. They are the ones doing them now, like practising cronyism and nepotism.
“One by one, their weaknesses are exposed to the rakyat. The reality of what Pakatan is all about is in question now. Is this what they call a pact?” Shamsul asked.
The political infighting between PKR and PAS become evident with the leaders of both parties blaming each other over issues, including the menteri besar crisis in Selangor.
PKR was also reported to have slammed Kelantan PAS for wanting to be given the Pengkalan Kubor state seat to be given to the Islamic party to contest in the coming by-election, following the death of assemblyperson Noor Zahidi Omar of Umno.
Meanwhile, Terengganu PAS commissioner Satiful Bahri Mamat had asked PKR not to shift the blame to PAS following PKR’s poor performance in the state in the last general election.
