The newly-minted central committee (CC) of PAS, elected at its muktamar last week, will hold its first meeting tomorrow and it is not likely to review the party's position in Pakatan Rakyat.

"The agenda of the meeting is to appoint the secretary-general, information chief, treasurer and all the other appointed posts," its assistant secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said today.

"PAS will review its position in Pakatan, but this will not be done at our first meeting tomorrow night," Takiyuddin said.

This was because, he said, a discussion and decision on such a matter needed to be attended by all the elected and appointed members.

The central committee will discuss the resolution of ulama wing as soon as possible, he said.

Newly-elected vice-president, Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, said the syura council would evaluate the cut-ties motion, and would call for a special muktamar or extraordinary general meeting for a decision.

Those holding posts free to act on own

Unless PAS makes a decision on its position in Pakatan, PAS remains with the coalition, Mohd Amar is quoted as saying in a report by The Malaysian Insider .

PAS has yet to decide whether its leaders and members need to relinquish their official positions in Penang state government, he reiterated.

Those who hold posts in the Penang Pakatan government, he said, were free to make the calls in their personal capacities.

Several pro-Pakatan PAS leaders, such as Mohamad Sabu , or fondly known as Mat Sabu and Mujahid Yusof Rawa ( photo ), who were purged at the party election have already resigned from their positions in government-linked parties.

Asked about PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's plea to review the PAS motion, Takiyuddin simply replied,"We will give Anwar the latest information."

Anwar has urged PAS to reconcile and review its position to severe ties with DAP so as to hold Pakatan together.
