S'gor BN rep joins call for white paper on DEIG
Selangor BN has expressed its concern over the formation of the Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) mooted by Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali.
Selangor BN secretary Budiman Mohd Zohdi echoed PAS Hulu Kelang assemblyperson Saari Sungib’s call to Azmin to prepare a white paper to explain DEIG’s role and governance system.
"You can see how all assemblypersons have expressed the same concern, assemblypersons from PAS are worried, the DAP are worried, even assemblypersons from BN are worried.
"I want the menteri besar to present a white paper, just like the suggestion given by the Hulu Kelang assemblyperson," Budiman told a press conference on the matter in Shah Alam last night.
Budiman, who is also Sungai Panjang assemblyperson, said the state government should improve Menteri Besar Inc (MBI) instead of forming a new investment body.
"Why isn't MBI improved? Why must there be a new entity?
"MBI was not structured well, so why can't we strengthen an already existing entity?" he told the 50 people in attendance last night.
Wastage feared
Budiman expressed his worry that if the matter was not exposed, there would be wastages, which would in the end affect the Selangor people.
"I will not keep quiet and will continue with the series of explanations on the matter if Azmin continues to be silent," he said.
The state-owned company was reportedly set up last December and launched this May to manage the investments of state-owned MBI’s subsidiaries.
Among others, it was highlighted in the state assembly that unlike MBI, DEIG was set up under the Companies Act and hence does not have to report its performance to the assembly.
