Former Bersih 2.0 co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan is merely aggravating situation by asking “the authorities to stop harassing Christians”. Such a statement from a prominent lawyer cannot be accepted because she is instilling hatred feeling among the people towards the government, especially when Christmas is around the corner.

I suggest that Ambiga be investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony, disunity and creating hatred feeling among the citizen with ill intention. Knowing very well that issues relating to religion is a very sensitive issue as this will cause spilt and create tension in the minds of the people only goes to show that Ambiga is not the least bothered about the country’s and its people’s well-being.

This kind of statement is infuriating and will paint a negative picture against the government, making it look like as though the authorities is purposely taking action against the Christians in the country.

This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Definitely the government under the present leadership of Prime Minister YAB Mohd Najib Abdul Razak will never penalise anyone especially on religion issues if it means no harm to others. Justice should prevail on this matter, as it is a case of concern to everyone. The opposition should not play up such issues to worsen the situation; this will only cause anxiety and unnecessary tension.

She as a lawyer should understand that no one is above the law, if the issue needs investigation, then just let the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) do their job. She should just stop instigating and provoking the multiracial society further.

If the police have acted unlawfully in detaining Catholic priest Cyril Mannayagam, then action should be taken against them. Tolerance among religions is required as religious freedom is outlined in the federal constitutions for all races.

The opposition should stop dividing the people further in the name of religion for their individual gains.
