I refer to the letter by Arbibi Ashoy, No reason to leave Islam .

Just because Ashoy has not met anyone wanting to leave Islam, does not mean there is no one wanting to do so. By probability theory, with a population of more than 10 million Muslims in the country, chances are high that there is more than one person wanting to leave the religion.

Alas, the constitution of the country forbids them to do so.

Arbibi can hold firm to his belief that Islam is the perfect religion. I do not choose to argue with him on that point. But I just urge him to put himself in the shoes of followers of other religions such as Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism.

Wouldn't these people, too, think that their religions are the perfect religions? What makes him an authority on religions to state there those people are misguided and that he is right. Very probably, Muhammad Faisal found a religion that is 'more perfect' for him.

People should have the freedom to belief in whatever faith they want to believe in and be free to practise it without any harassment from any party whatsoever or to give reasons and explanations on why they should choose to follow a particular set of beliefs.
