It’s a new kind of weather
when you can’t see beyond a kilometre.
Some call it the ‘Malaysian Winter!’
Others wonder whether the good times are over.
Blaming the Indonesians year after year
for the economic losses and health danger.
Our pleas to them get a cold shoulder
must our people demonstrate their anger?
Indonesia’s farmer and plantation owner:
Beware the looming international pressure
For the harm done beyond the border
That can cause friendly ties to sever.
An economy built on oil palm and rubber,
what will happen if sanctions occur?
It will affect alike rich and poor,
And cause Indonesia to suffer.
Indonesia’s government must not dither:
End the problem of fires altogether.
Act seriously to book every polluter
in the spirit of a responsible neighbour.
