I refer to your report Nyonya Tahir - a landmark judgment . This judgment, although raising hopes, also raises many questions.

  1. If the Syariah Court could accept a statutory declaration of one renouncing her Islamic faith, then can that apply all around? One then does not have to go to a Jabatan Agama Islam of any state to declare their intention to leave Islam.

  • Now that the Syariah Court has allowed two non-Muslim as witnesses, will the Syariah Court which heard the Moorthy case review its decision?

  • Is the ruling by the Seremban Syariah Court just an 'eye wash' to say all is fine and fair with the system when handling matters pertaining non-Muslims or is it just one-off thing?
