Dr Mahathir Mohamad's latest disclosure about the Chinese being the biggest taxpayers did console me to some extent. He has spoken what the Chinese dare not speak in public even though we knew all along the fact that the Chinese are a major contributing force to the building of our nation. Be it in the nation's economy, education, commerce and industry, achievements and well- beings and all other aspects, the Chinese have always been a driving force and a strong supporter of the government of the day.

But who cares? If 'Chinese are the biggest taxpayers' comment was uttered by someone from the Chinese community, such a person will surely be condemned as being racist, insensitive and unpatriotic by certain Malay politicians. He might be asked to go back to his country of origin (even though he was born in Malaysia.). Now, Tun has taken the words out of the Chinese mouth and confirmed the contribution made by them all these years. The Malay politicians who have always accused the Chinese of being unpatriotic, greedy and selfish should shut up from now on.

Sometimes, majority does not mean right. Majority may not bring good. Majority may not lead better. Hence, if Umno strongmen can humbly admit the facts and remove the stumbling blocks (bumi or non-bumi; Malay or non-Malay; Muslim or non-Muslim), believe me, Malaysia can do much, much better than what we are today. Only then can we all Malaysians proudly shout Merdeka and Malaysia Boleh!
