LETTER | Politicians must stop their antics - it's now or never

LETTER | The political landscape is getting dissipated with unending horse-trading.

The focus on both sides of the political divide - governing and opposition blocks -  seems to be focussed on party allegiance, party alliances and even plots to create more new parties.

Please stop fragmenting the people with your unending chequerboard moves to gain power.

We have enough political parties in this country. In fact, it is a conclusive case of having more than the necessary number of parties given our tiny 30 over million population.

What we need is a commitment to galvanise the strengths of political leaders to address the nation's needs.

Far too much time, energy, resources are wasted on all the political plotting that is taking place either openly or behind thick curtains of secrecy.

We cannot be marching into the next general election or even be pushed into a snap election surprise if our politicians keep up with their antics and power games at heightened gears.

At some point we have to tell every politician that the people are not only exasperated but are also at their wits end over the unrelenting political wheeling and dealings.

Truly, if there is anyone who is qualified to talk or preach or champion nationhood, they certainly cannot be our politicians as things stand now.

The citizens are more concerned and worried for our nation's economic and financial progress and the well being of the harmony in the country.

As we just witnessed, even Parliament is now not free from the barbs, gall and toxicity of politicians.
